OVERVIEW

Sasha Kasiuha developed the dimensional splitting technique and directed the film and live performance for the Nighthawk premiere at Cinema Le Balzac. Characters move from the screen into the theatre, connecting the filmed story with the audience’s space. Creative direction by John Galliano.

When the film enters the room

You watch a character in a film. Then the same character appears in the cinema and walks past your seat. The story is happening on screen and around you at the same time. This is dimensional splitting.

At the Nighthawk premiere at Cinema Le Balzac, a live performer moved through the audience while the film showed a couple in a matching cinema. His actions in the room appeared to affect what happened to them on screen. Film and live performance were timed to feel like one continuous scene.
